Military Institute of Science and Technology Admission Test Circular 2019-20 has been published in the university notice board and website. MIST Bachelor Admission Exam 2019-20 will be started October 18, 2019.

Military Institute of Science and Technology (MIST) Overview

Military Institute of Science and Technology (MIST) is one of the renowned University of Bangladesh. This university is controlled by the Bangladesh ARMY. The first programmer launched by this university was Civil Engineering on 1999 and afterwards Electrical, Electronic & Communication Engineering (EECE) and Mechanical Engineering (ME) Programs started conducting from, 2002-2003. Aeronautical Engineering (AE) and Naval Architecture and Marine Engineering (NAME) program were launched in 2008-2009 and 2012-2013. Besides, four new departments were opened for their academic session from 2014-2015 which were Nuclear Science & Engineering (NSE), Biomedical Engineering (BME), Architecture (Arch) and Environmental, Water Resources & Coastal Engineering (EWCE).

Moreover, it has facilities like Medical Centre, Fitness Centre, Cyber Café, Broadband Internet facilities, Library and Students’ Accommodation (Male & Female). This university holds the most foreign students among all the universities in Bangladesh. Most of the students are from Srilanka, Nepal, Maldives, Palestine, Liberia, South Sudan and Gambia and they get scholarship in foreign quota. This institution is not gender biased and their motto is “Technology for Advancement” which operates in collaboration with other universities as well.

It has formation with Bangladesh University of Professionals (BUP) and have close cooperation with Bangladesh University of Engineering and Technology (BUET) and Dhaka University (DU). The academic session starts within the last week of January. Mist is located in the northern part of Mirpur and it is mostly known as the ‘Education Village’ to the military, civil and professional students. It’s mission is to Provide superior undergraduate and graduate programs that are technology-enriched and responsive to the needs of students and the evolving workplace.  Then, Conduct research that creates knowledge, solves problems, results in economic and social innovation and engages students. Facilitate life-long learning that is flexible, inclusive and emphasizes college university transfers as well as developing academic and research collaborations with industry and community that stimulate and enhance the region and institute at home and abroad.

Finally, cultivate a dynamic learning environment for students by promoting social engagement, fostering critical thinking and integrating experiences inside and outside the classroom. So, their main motto is to become the ‘Centre of Excellence’. Moreover, admission test is taken each year on the month of November-December depending on the exam schedule of other universities. To seat in the examination one must need total 10 CGPA form SSC and HSC together.

Military Institute of Science and TechnologyFor ARMY personal’s children and officers there is quota in admission. There is a medical examination after passing the admission test. The test includes both subjective and objective questions. There is negative marking for wrong answers as well. Moreover, a very limited number of students are given to seating for the exam because MIST tries to keep the quality up to standard. All classes are provided with multimedia facilities and there are research facilities under ARMY which are opened to the students. After graduation students are given opportunity to peruse their higher studies in BUP and courses for professional development are offered as well.

Requirements For Admission Test

  • SSC or Equivalent. The applicants who passed the examination in 2016 & 2017 in Science Group obtaining a minimum GPA 4.00 (without 4th subject) in the scale of 5.00 can apply.
  • HSC or Equivalent. The applicants who passed the examination in 2018 & 2019 obtaining a minimum total grade point 17 in four subjects (Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry, and English) can apply.
  • GCE (O and A Levels or  Equivalent)
  1. The applicants who passed the examination in 2016 & 2017 with minimum B grade in 5 subjects including Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry, and English in GCE ‘O’ Level can apply.
  2. The applicants who passed the examination in 2018 & 2019 with minimum B grade in Mathematics, Physics and Chemistry GCE ‘A’ Level can apply.
  • Applicants interested in Biomedical Engineering must have Biology at HSC or Equivalent level with a minimum grade point of ‘A’-/ GCE ‘A’ or Equivalent level with a minimum grade point of ‘C’.
